1.For the ERC Programme is it mandatory to build a consortium of partners?

No, it is not requested.  The general rule in the ERC Programme is the participation of a sole participant, the Host Institution (HI) . It is possible to include additional partners only in some exceptional cases.

2.Starting (StG) and Consolidator (CoG) Grants – Which is the rule to calculate the eligibility window to determinethe Principal Investigator’s profile?

The calculation must start from the actual date of the PhD award to the 1st of January 2016.

3.Starting (StG) and Consolidator (CoG) Grants – Which career breaks are admitted to extend the eligibility window?

The eligible breaks are the following:

 

Before or After the PhD award:

-          Maternity (18 months)

-          Paternity (the effective time of leave taken, to be properly documented)

 

After the PhD award

-          National service (effective time)

-          Long-term illness– over 90 days (effective time)

-          Clinical training (effective time,up to 4,5 years)

4.Starting (StG) and Consolidator (CoG) Grants-  How should I calculate the maternity leave and what kind of documents do I have to attach?

For maternity, the effective elapsed time since the award of the first PhD will be considered reduced by 18 months for each child born before or after the PhD award. (547,5 days per child).

The request should be supported attaching the birth certificates.

5.Starting (StG) and Consolidator (CoG) Grants- I am a Medical Doctor: how can I calculate the eligibility window?

For Medical Doctors the calculation of the eligibility window depends on different situations:

The calculation normally starts from the PhD award.In case the MD has an appointment that requires doctoral equivalency befor the PhD (or in absence of a PhD)(e.g. post-doc, Professorship)) the certified date of the MD completion plus two years is the time reference for calculation of the eligibility window Here below a summary of the possible scenarios:

1)MD + PhD: 2-7 (StG) and 7-12 (CoG) years from the PhD

2)MD + Appointment which requires a PhD or equivalent: 4-9 (StG) and 9 -14 (CoG) years from MD.

3)In chronological order:  MD + PhD +Professional appointment which requires a PhD or equivalent: 2-7 (StG) and 7-12 (CoG) years from the PhD

4)In chronological order: MD + Professional appointment which needs a PhD or equivalent + PhD: 4-9 (StG) and 9 -14 (CoG) from MD.

6.Which parts of the proposal do I have to submit within the Call deadline?

The submission is at one step (with a two-steps evaluation) so it is necessary to present all the documents requested in the call by the fixed deadline.

7.What are the eligibility criteria to participate in the Advanced Grant (AdG)?

For the AdG there are no eligibility criteria related to the academic qualification and the participation is open also without a PhD. It is necessary to demonstrate at least ten years of research activity towards the date of the call publication.

8.Which are the admitted  languages for the certificates to be attached to the proposal?

The certification to be attached to the proposal (PhD certificate and supporting documents for the professional leaves) can be in any EU language and also in Italian.
